I was inspired to day by Mrs. Lee's Blog. She has some great ideas for her Kindergarten class that I incorporated into First Grade. She made a life sized Gingerbread Man and did an non-standard unit of measurement activity.

The students measure the Gingerbread Man with paper peppermints. Then they compare themselves to see if they are shorter or taller than the gingerbread man. I made my own version of the activity. I added a writing extension to the activity to explain their findings.
