Question on Blogging
I just got a comment from someone that just started a blog and is using "First Grade Teaching". When I started my blog, I researched to make sure no one had the name or something similar so that I wasn't taking away from someone. I am surprised that blogger would let to sites have the same name. How do we protect our intellectual property and blog? I don't think the person was being malicious, but we work so hard. Isn't it blogger etiquette to not take the name of another blog? Just curious and would like advice my fellow teacher friends and followers. :)

ReplyDeleteSorry to step on your toes! I started my blog at about 2 am last night- I wasn't trying to copy you- I didn't realize it already existed! Blogger didn't identify that there was someone already using that name- the title you have listed on this page "First Grade Teaching" and your URL "First Grade Teachers" don't match so it didn't catch it.
ReplyDeleteI have already changed the title of mine.
I'm not mad at all! I think the more we have sharing the better we all are!!! I think I tried to get firstgradeteaching, but it was taken already. Someone must have had it and then got rid of it. I am not a complainer at all!!! I want everyone to share to make our jobs better and much easier!!!! Ashly2499, I will help you with anything you need. I was just trying to see how it happened. I know Mrs. Carroll is FirstGradeParade, Gladys is Teaching in High Heels, Arnold is Oceans of Fun... I think all of us that have been doing it regularly know each other by their name of the blog and not the web address. larremore is Chalk Talk, but her name is her web ID. I guess I was just scared that I would be forgotten. Selfish... I know... I am sorry if I am being a big Bah Humbug. :) I love all you guys!!!!
ReplyDeleteMrs. Walsky,
ReplyDeleteOk, ready for my new blog? *drumroll.....*

So come visit me over there! :) Much better. Again, sorry for the confusion. Thanks for being so sweet.
I'm a second year teacher. There are 6 other first grade teachers at my school, but they (for the most part) aren't into sharing ideas or collaborating on anything! I'm thankful for amazing blogs like yours to get some ideas. I can't believe I didn't know there were teacher blogs sooner!
I was there too! I worked and no one would help me....That was not fun. OK, I am going to follow you now!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI am so impressed with the quality of the interaction you two just had - respectful, supportive, and professional! What a great thing to see! Ashly, you WILL gain followers simply because of how you handled this situation... in fact, I'm going to hop over and check out your new blog right now! :)
ReplyDeleteI am a follower already!!! :) We have to support each other! Goodness knows as teachers, we are all we have!!!! Thanks Mamie!!!
